Salomon bought by Amer Sport

The French manufacturer of skis, bindings and boots has been bought from Adidas by Finnish company Amer Sports for 485 million Euros. After this transfer Adidas will concentrate on sporting shoes and clothing, and Amer has realized its ambition to become the world's premier group of sporting equipment. The Finnish company owns Atomic skis and Wilson tennis rackets, Mavic bicycles, Bonfire snowboards, Arc'Teryx climbing and Cliché skateboards. Salomon Managing Director Jean-Luc Diard predicts greater economies of scale purchasing power. ‘Our savoir-faire is complementary: Amer is stronger in skis, Salomon in bindings and boots. This union offers us the opportunity of greater success and will allow us to develop our activities'.

The purchase follows last month's purchase of French company Rossignol by US company Quiksilver.
