Shop 74

A new addition to the shopping scene has opened its doors in Chamonix this month. Shop 74 is a cool skate and board clothing store with a bit of a twist that could put an end to shopping related arguments for good. As well as being able to shop for all the latest brands (Cliche, Nike, Element, Wesc, Hurley, Fenchurch, DC, Etnies, Osiris, Vestal, Hardcore Session, Spy and Dragon) at Shop 74, you can also chill out, check your e-mails and relax over a cup of Italian coffee in their Internet Lounge downstairs.

A totally unique retail concept for Chamonix, the Shop 74 Lounge has a fast 8 MEG connection, WI FI, Skype, CD burning and downloading, printing, photocopying, scanning and faxing. And if you're exhausted after that lot, you can relax on the big, comfy sofas in front of the plasma TV screen with a coffee or a cold drink into the evening. On top of all that, it is also only a short walk between the changing rooms and the lounge should a second opinion on your new Hurley t-shirt be required. At last somewhere where shopaholics and shopaphobics (and by that I mean husbands and boyfriends!) can mingle happily.

The guys behind the venture are Dave Gannon, owner of Bar 74 (previously Poppadum's) in Cham Sud, Karim Koundri, who comes from 5 years with Volcom and Lucy Marshall, a former Scots Lawyer. You will find Shop 74 in the centre of town at 16 Cours du Bartavel (next to the cinema). It is open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm and is well worth a visit.
