Thomsonfly announce new winter flights to Lyon Airport

The success of Thomsonfly's Coventry/Lyon Saint-Exupéry route, begun in 2004, has led the company to extend its winter flight schedule. During the 2005/6 season the low-cost company will run four to five flights per week from Bournemouth and Doncaster to Lyon Saint-Exupéry.

Spring 2006 could also see a new area in Lyon airport dedicated to low-cost airlines. If agreement is obtained from the French Transport Minister, a part of the existing airport will become a ‘reduced service' terminal (without seating or trolleys) during the winter season. Lyon hopes to cash in on the low-cost market, which now represents 30% of internal European traffic. With the new terminal, Lyon expects to attract 1.2 million extra passengers over the next two years.
