Tramway du Mont Blanc opens this weekend

featured in News & reviews Author Helen McGrory, Chamonix Reporter Updated

After the storms in May damaged a significant portion of its track, the long awaited opening of the Tramway du Mont Blanc is finally happening this Saturday (30th). Fully repaired and rearing to go, the first departure from Le Fayet will leave at 7.45am (then 9.10am & 10.15am), arriving at the Nid d'Aigle (Eagle's Nest) one hour and ten minutes later. Very popular with tourists and alpinists alike, the new Nid d'Aigle refuge offers fabulous views over the Bionassay glacier and also marks the starting point for the Voie Royale route up Mont Blanc.

Reservations are strongly recommended for the Tramway, especially during the peak months of July and August, and can be made at the foot of the Aiguille du Midi cable car or directly at the tram office in Le Fayet.
