Valley Blanche Soon to be Equipped

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

If the snow is somewhat lacking at low and mid altitude, fortunately, the same cannot be said for the Mont Blanc Massif. According to observers from the “Office de Haute Montagne” the Valley Blanche is in a reasonably good state, even if the bottom section is rather dry. Yesterday (Tuesday) a safety commission appointed by Chamonix town council was due to decide whether it was time to install the fixed line, which facilitates access to the famous off-piste itinerary, on the arête. Line or no line, the walk out on the arête is a hairy one and since the descent from 3842m is primarily on glacier, a high mountain guide is strongly recommended, even in optimum conditions.
