Will Rue des Moulins ever be the same again?
It's a sad time for the Rue des Moulins at the moment. Normally bustling with chatter and activity by now, the street remains eerily deserted after the fire that ravaged some of its more historic buildings earlier in the year.
In February we reported that a fire started in a derelict building in between Cy Bar and the Guides du Mont Blanc causing extensive damage to both properties. Some of Chamonix's most popular bars Cy Bar, Bar Des Moulins and the Queen Vic have been unable to open since the fire and are still caught up in insurance company wrangles. This, combined with three outlets in the street up for sale, rent or auction has lead to a slump of trade in the landmark location that even the sunshine is failing to revive.
