Aiguille de Midi lift closed until 27th May 2018

Routine inspection finds anomaly on cables at Chamonix lift

Problems arose on Wednesday at the Aiguille du Midi lift in Chamonix when a fault was found on the haulage cable. This caused severe delays on the day and ultimately the decision was made to close the top section of the lift running from Plan de l'Aiguille to the summit. Works have commenced to fix the issue but the lift will remain closed until the 27th of May. The first section of the lift, from Chamonix to Plan d'Aiguille, will be open until the 21st, then the whole system closes between 22nd-27th.

Luckily, Chamonix has much more to offer than just the Aiguille de Midi! The Montevers train is still running and Compagnie de Mont Blanc will be opening the Chamonix-Planpraz lift in the Brévent area in order to offer a great viewpoint of the Mont Blanc range.
