Missing man found dead in Chamonix

French man missing since Monday on Mont Blanc ascent

Update 18th August 2017 - The missing man has been found dead by PGHM rescue teams, after two days of intense searches. It's believed that he fell around 300 metres, crossing two seracs and then falling 25 metres into a crevasse. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Chamonix High-Mountain Gendarmerie are calling for witnesses following the disappearance of a climber in the Mont-Blanc massif.

The 46 year old French man was apparently set to take the normal route from the Gouter cCuloir to Mont Blanc.

He set off on Tuesday 15th August 2017 from the car park of Crozat, Bionnassay in Les Houches, but has not been gheard from since.

He is alone, 1m 80cm (5'9"), 75 kg, with short brown hair, wearing a dark outfit. He was apparently only equipped with trail running equipment and clothing.

Anyone who has seen him on his supposed itinerary between Tuesday 15th August and today are asked to contact the PGHM on +33 (0)4 50 53 16 89, to pass on any information that may help them find him.
