Chamonix's ski lifts whir into action next Saturday, December 15th 2018, kickstarting a season that we hope will be epic.

The Chamonix Valley received a significant dump of snow last weekend, so the slopes boast some pretty decent depths. The lift company has announced that several pistes and lifts will be open this weekend including part of Les Grands Montets, Brévent-Flégère and Les Houches. This means that we'll be able to enjoy 17 lifts and 16 pistes in the Chamonix Valley. They are:

  • Les Grands Montets: Plan Joran gondola, Bochard gondola and the new Tabé chairlift, giving access to the Bochard, Marmottons and Coqs pistes
  • Brévent-Flégère: Planpraz gondola, Cornu, Parsa, Trappe and Index chairlifts, 2000 drag lift and Flégère cable car, giving access to the Combe des Vioz, Cornu, Stade, Trappe, Libellules and Pylônes pistes. The Brévent cable car will be open as well but for pedestrians only.
  • Les Houches: Prarion gondola, Mélèzes, Ecole, Kandahar, Voza and Maisonneuve (depending on snow conditions) chairlifts, and Ecole magic carpet. These will service the Aillouds (upper section), Col de Voza, Kandahar (upper section), Chamois, La Cha and Tétras pistes, as well as the beginner area by the Prarion lift.

Megève will also be open, with seven lifts running: Alpette, Rochebrune, Rocharbois, Chamois, Caboche, Mont d'Arbois and Ideal.

The Compagnie du Mont Blanc is offering special early season discounts, the 'Bon Plan 1ère Neige', until December 21st 2018, so get out there this weekend and bon ski!
