Chamonix steep skier in serious fall

Accident on the NE face of Les Courtes in the Argentiere basin

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

A skier suffered a serious fall yesterday afternoon on the North-East face of Les Courtes, in the Argentiere basin.

The pitch of the face is between 45-50 degrees, topping out at 3,856m and attracts skiers because of its difficulty.

The skier who fell yesterday afternoon suffered multiple injuries and was taken by helicopter to Sallanches hospital.

On Monday another skier fell 400 metres on a face nearby, but sadly died of his injuries on the mountain. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
