Chamonix is ready for yet another snowy Christmas season. The town council have organised a magical evening to celebrate the start of the festivities next Wednesday, December 5th 2018 throughout the town centre.

Celebrations will start at 17:15 in Place Mont Blanc where colourful glowing sticks will be given out to all the kids present. Just 15 minutes later, the 'Batucada de Nino' drumming band and the teachers and pupils of the local music school will parade through the streets of Chamonix to the Place du Triangle de l'Amitié.

This central square, where the main church and the tourist office are located, will be the hot spot of the celebrations. A giant Christmas tree measuring over 10 metres will be set up here, decorated with light figures depicting silhouettes of local sportsmen, including climbers, skiers, ice skaters and hockey players. The lights will be turned on when the musical parade arrives. But the party won't end there and then. A group of jugglers will perform the show 'Felix's World' and free 'vin chaud' and hot chocolate will be given out to all visitors. As the grand finale, there will be live music.

Throughout the month of December, there will also be a festive Christmas market, concerts, parades, carols and much more. Come and check out Chamonix's magical Christmas atmosphere for yourself. Joyeux Noël!
