Folie Douce might be coming to Chamonix

Aprés brand potentially taking over the Club Med

There have been murmurings about the eventual fate of the Club Med in Chamonix for some time. The latest rumour is that the people behind the Folie Douce will taking over the hotel.

At the 'Grand Ski' Industry trade show recently, a partnership between the Folie Douce and a hotel group, 'Les hotels Tres Particuliers', was announced. The latter's mission statement being "reinventing the hotel industry". While the website does indeed confirm the partnership, details are scant beyond setting out a vision for holiday village for all, from high-end luxury clients to families. With this in mind, the rumour that the Folie Douce will be moving into the Club Med building, makes some sense, as it is itself already an all-inclusive resort.

The Folie Douce currently runs a number of popular on-mountain aprés bars and restaurants across the French Alps. If the rumour proves true, it would join existing Folie establishments in Val d'Isere, St Gervais, Alpe d'Huez and the 3 Valleys. If these plans materialise, the new hotel could open as early as December 2018. We will keep our ears to the ground and let you know how this develops.
