A mountaineer has died after a fall whilst descending the Dent du Geat yesterday at around 16:00.

The man is now know to have been a 28 British mountaineer.

He was on the normal route of the popular mountain peak and the cause of the accident is thought to have been due to rocks collapsing under his feet as the pair approached the Salle a Manger. Although still attached to the rope he is believed to have been hit by falling rocks.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
