Iconic Chamonix summer lift opens 2 weeks late

The Panoramic Mont Blanc gondola, connecting the Aiguille du Midi and Helbronner on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, re-opens on 8th June 2017.

The lift was originally due to open for summer on 25th May, but has been delayed for almost two weeks.

Compagnie du Mont Blanc, the lift operators, have said today that work has been carried out by the teams at the Aiguille du Midi during this time but didn't state what exactly they were working on. Back in September the lift got stuck after cables became tangled, trapping 110 visitors, some overnight.

The lift will be back in operation from tomorrow (8th June 2017)  until the 24th September 2017, weather permitting. First lifts are at 09:00 until 16th June.
