Alison Shayler | Chamonix Reporter | Published: 30th March 2017

The clocks have changed and spring is officially in the air! April brings warmer days, longer evenings and a plethora of events throughout the Chamonix valley.

Take a look at our pick of the best events, parties and activities to do in Chamonix this month.

Chamonix Unlimited Festival - 5th-9th April

Prepare yourself for a week of hedonism in the mountains, bars and nightclubs of Chamonix as DJs from across Europe gather for the Chamonix Unlimited Festival. Some of the events are free, others you’ll need to buy a ticket for, either way there’s loads going on and the entire resort will be buzzing with party vibes.

France v Sweden ice hockey - 6th April

The biggest grudge match of the sporting calendar - Frenchies versus Scandies at the annual ice hockey smash fest. Chamonix’s finest ski bums turn out to put their best skate forward and show everyone who plays a better game. Not only is it a great night out but all the proceeds go to a very well deserving charity.

Late Reprobates Epic Apres at Kitsch Inn - 7th April

Enjoy some slushy spring skiing, a champagne picnic and live music at Kitsch Inn in Les Houches - hopefully in the sunshine! Once the sun goes down you can tuck into a classic cheese fondue and then dance the night away to DJs Jimbo and Corin. Come resplendent in your finest retro ski gear and tightest onesies for bonus style points.

Braderie de Chamonix - 8th & 9th April

Grab yourself some spring bargains in the end of season sales! This weekend the streets of Chamonix become one big open air market as the shops put their remaining stock outside and slash their prices. There are various entertainments and live music planned as well, so expect the town centre to be busy.

La Corse a Cham - 14th-16th April

Savour a taste of all things Corsican this weekend with a lively schedule of concerts, dancing, films, food and drink. Every year Chamonix welcomes our Corsican friends to turn the centre of town into a buzzing little market place where food stalls and live concerts take place. Lots of local bars and restaurants get in on the action with Corsican themed events and parties. If you’re lucky you could even win yourself a holiday to the beautiful island of Corsica.

The Legendary P Party - 15th April

It’s that time of year again… already! The annual discarding of dignity and embracing of complete shenanigans that is The Pub P Party. Come dressed in anything beginning with the letter P - the crazier, the better - and launch yourself into a night of dancing on the bar, downing shots and general nonsense.

Easter Day - 16th April

There are plenty of places to enjoy a delicious Easter lunch; Le Vert are laying on the traditional roast lamb feast followed by homemade dessert. Families are very welcome and they’ll usually do earlier sittings for those with little’uns, so enquire when booking - reservations are essential as their Sunday lunches are always very popular.

Take little ones to the Chamonix tourist office at 2pm and follow the trail to find out where the Easter bunny has hidden chocolate eggs. There is a snack and prize giving at 5pm.

Closure of ski areas - 16th & 17th April

Depending on the snow conditions over the next couple of weeks, most of the main Chamonix ski areas are scheduled to close over the weekend of 16/17th April - so make the most of it and get up there while you can! There are always a few closing parties and fun events at each of the ski areas, details of which are usually released at the last minute, so keep an eye on our Chamonix events calendar for details. The exception is Les Grands Montets, which doesn’t close until they’ve had the infamous Freeride Days party on 1st May. You can find all lift opening and closing dates here.

Le Delice closing party - 29th April

Help out the good folks at Le Delice by depleting their stocks before they close for the interseason. They have plenty of delicious grub at bargain prices to be enjoyed while you listen to the mellow tunes of musician Mikey Grey; hopefully on the terrace with a chilled glass of vino in hand if the weather is fine.

Regular events

Enjoy the lighter nights and warmer evenings of spring with a bit of al fresco apres-ski with Baltha every Sunday at Cool Cats; also on Sundays is Spring Pong at Bighorn Bar & Bistro. Don't miss the last Chambre Neuf apres-ski session with No Limits on 14th April - you're final chance to dance on tables, spill beer everywhere and roar your head off without even needing to change out of your ski boots.

Munster Bar have regular live music on Saturdays from Alternative Facts. La Yaute Cafe near Agentiere have live music on Fridays & La Terrasse in Chamonix centre have music from Reel Relish every Thursday.

There is plenty going on throughout the month, so keep an eye on our Chamonix events calendar for updates.
