February might be the shortest month, but it manages to pack a lot into those 28 days! Here’s what’s happening in Chamonix over the next four weeks.

Singers & Songwriters Night - 1st February

There’s more to Chamonix than ski bums and seasonaires; there’s also plenty of extremely talented musos hanging out amongst us. Come along to the monthly Singers & Songwriters night to discover original music, written and performed by whoever is brave enough to take to the stage. The venue varies each month and this time it is La Maison des Artistes that has the honour; an historic old house that has been converted into a very hip jazz club. This is always a great nice with a really friendly vibe; come along and check it out. Singers & Songwriters Night


Chamonix Ladies Ice Hockey Match - 4th February

The Chamonix Rebelles will be giving it all they’ve got in their upcoming match against Swiss team Chaux-de-Fonds. Free entry, tiered seating and a bar serving drinks and snacks make this a great night out with plenty of action. Kick-off (or whatever it’s called in ice hockey) is at 8pm. Wine Tasting Lunch at Hameau Albert Premier - 4th, 5th February

Enjoy a morning of wine discovery as you are guided through some of the finest appellations of the Beaujolais region. Each month the Hameau Albert Premier invites an expert in fine wines to present a tasting session, followed by a gourmet lunch accompanied by a selection of carefully chosen wines from the same region. This February you will be joined by Mr Esmonin, from the Domaine du Vissoux vineyard. Reservation in advance is essential. Wine tasting lunches at Albert Premier


Craft Beers & Live Music at Le Vert - 6th February

Enjoy some delicious beverages from craft beer suppliers Man & Wolf, alongside live art from renowned Brighton street artist Mr Penfold, live music from the John Wilson Band, all topped up with Le Vert's lovely pie and mash. Get Your Rock & Pop On at La Terrasse - 8th February

Get glammed up as your favourite rock or pop star and boogie on over to La Terrasse. As well as great tunes and prizes for the best dressed you'll also get that warm fuzzy glow from doing something for charity - just 5€ on the door and all proceeds go to local good cause A Chacun Son Everest. Paret Sledging - 10th, 17th, 24th February

Ever fancied careering uncontrollably down a ski piste on a narrow wooden plank as night sets in? No? Why ever not? It’s actually really good fun and you’ll be laughing too much for nerves to get the better of you. Open to anyone over 10 years old, paret sledging is a traditional pastime that is being revived every Friday evening during the February holidays in Les Houches. Torchlit Descent - 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th February

Join the ESF ski instructors on a torchlit descent of the Grands Montets home run; lead by a procession of flaming torches. Intermediate skiers are welcome to take part, while beginners and non-skiers can enjoy the spectacle from the foot of the pistes. Warm up afterwards with a mulled wine or hot apple juice. A magical and atmospheric evening treat that all ages can enjoy. Torchlit descent


Treasure Hunt - 9th, 16th, 23rd February

Every Thursday during the February holidays, you could win yourself a ride on a piste basher! Register at the top of the Prarion gondola to receive a treasure map that will take you all round the Les Houches ski area; find the clues to win prizes. This free activity is open to all ages, as long as you have a MBU or Les Houches ski pass of 4 days or more. Treasure hunt in Les Houches


Chamonix Men’s Ice Hockey Match - 14th February

Nothing says “I Love You” like a good brawl and a few beers. Sweep your date off their feet this Valentine’s with a night out at the ice hockey, followed by homebrewed craft beers and massive burgers at MBC. Tickets can be bought on the door. Les Pionniers ice hockey match


Chamonix En Rouge - 17th February

Join the ski instructors of the Chamonix ESF for a big street party with music, dancing and prizes! Starting at 6pm in front of the Maison de la Montagne (beside the tourist office); if you have children, see the details on our events page for how they can take part in the procession. The night finishes with a magical light show and a grand raffle prize draw. Chamonix En Rouge


Coumba Freida Carnaval - 26th February

Take a day trip out of the Chamonix valley and over the border into Italy to experience a fun and unusual festival. There'll be music, dancing, food, drink and plenty to see; you'll be accompanied by tour guide and professional photographer, Teresa Kaufman, who will be happy to share some photography tips with you and tell you a bit about the local traditions.
