Chamonix Apres Ski Report:2nd April 2009

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

"If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise, if you go down to the woods today you better go in disguise"... Spring is steadily approaching Chamonix and as the days get longer and the birds begin to sing, something is stirring in the woods. It's big, it's noisy and just a little bit hairy!

This week a party in the woods awoke from its slumber and enticed hundreds of party goers to brave the treacherous pathways up the mountain side and into the forest for a night of dancing, fire juggling and base-tastic music.

The fun has not only been restricted to the woods this week though. There was, of course, plenty going on down in the town itself and now things are beginning in to quieten down a bit as the mad rush of the winter is subsiding, I have found plenty of time to enjoy it!

After my taste of Italy last week in Courmayeur, I decided to head to the next best place for an Italian dinner, Casa Valerio and shamefully ordered the same dish I do every time, Porcini Tortellini. This dish never fails to hit the spot and Casa Valero also does delicious pizzas, fish and meat dishes as well as an unforgettable selection of desserts. It seemed that everyone else had chosen to do the same as us and seats were in short supply. We ended up eating at the bar which was surprisingly enjoyable. If you like food, people watching and the choice of any drink in sight, this is the spot to be in and luckily these are three of my favourite things!

We left far to full to walk, but luckily for us La Terrasse was right there on the doorstep to welcome us in for Tequila night, which dangerously means shots for €1.50! DJ G Funk was playing an upbeat mix of Hip Hop and there was plenty of over enthusiastic dancing taking place. Music and entertainment.....what more can you want! Tequila night takes place every Wednesday night.

This weekend shake the dust off those dancing shoes and check out :

Cantina Club Friday 3 April - Nowhere does dancing like Cantina with Tonio Cham7 for The Reggae-Ragga-Dancehall-Swinging sound

Le Choucas Saturday 4 April – Very French and very fun withDJ Phil G

Chambre Neuf - Great music, great crowd. Apres ski every week night with Melvil

Le Garage - Cheesy, cheery and definitely worth a late night visit. DJ DAWA plays every night this weekend.
