Chamonix Apres Ski Report:6th February 2009

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

This week was a mellow one in Chamonix as the town geared up for the Half Term rush that is February! I decided to round off my week upstairs in La Terrasse with a handful of drinks and a couple of friends. Before getting up there of course we braved the crowds down stairs who had faithfully turned out to watch Hors Piste play which was the perfect opportunity to take a couple of sneaky snapshots of the night and the action on the dance floor !

After a drink or two the excitement from downstairs was begging to rub off on us and I for one wasn't quite ready to hand in the towel just yet so we headed to Cantina Club in search of a dance floor and some good music. This is of course exactly what we found. This Saturday DJ Richie Delf will be playing a mixture of U.K Funky Hip-Hop if you fancy taking a look for yourself.

If the music in Cantina is not quite to your taste and you're looking for a spot to while away the early hours of the morning then there are plenty of other spots in town to choose from and here are just a couple:

Le Vert Fest
For the last few years Le Vert has been hosting their February Vert Fest. This means lots of live music and big names!

Crazy P Sound System on Friday the 13th February
Crazy P is from Manchester and has been at the forefront of live house music for many years. They recently played at Glastonbury to a crowd of 40000 and they will now grace Chamonix with a visit.
Entrance fee will be € 10 on the door.

Vert Fest Finale 21st Feb 2009 with DJ Skitz and deadly Hunter (BBC 1Extra) – Free!

Le Garage
Looking for some good old French style cheesy pop any night of the week, blue lighting and the best dance floor in town? Look no further then Le Garage. Every Tuesday the Garage puts on a special DJ night and on 27th of Feb Hayley Parsons will be playing a mix of progressive house, tech and electro.

Other Events to look out for:

Nissan Outdoor Games- from Saturday February 14th to Friday February 20th
This unique event combines athletics, film, photography and art! Teams of professional athletes, production companies, cameramen and photographers compete to produce a 5 minute film. They have seven days to do this and the production must feature 5 outdoor sports eg: Mountaineering, Skiing, Snowboarding, Paragliding & Hang gliding, BASE Jumping & Wingsuit flying. On the night of Saturday 21st the entries can be viewed on a large screen in the centre of town and the 'Golden Peak' Trophy will be awarded . Three other awards will be given: Jury's Special Award, Best Sports Sequence and Best Photographer.
