Chamonix Apres Ski Report:9th January 2009

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

The hustle and bustle of Chamonix continues with no rest for the wicked! This week saw Chamonix graced by the likes Kylie Minogue and Penelope Cruz not to mention a huge influx of Russians proudly ploughing through the entire town's supply of Vodka in seven days!

It seems the Russians also brought along their winter for the holiday and this week we've seen temperatures plummet to a crippling -15 degrees keeping even the hardiest après skiers at bay.

The thought of two for one cocktails, live music and the strong possibility of table dancing however was enough to draw even me out .On Wednesday night I merrily donned the thermals and headed out to Chambre Neuf for a dose of Melvil and to toast a couple of Moscule Mules to our Russian visitors.

Chamonix takes on Villars de Lans this Tuesday at Ice Hockey. The game starts at 20.30 and tickets cost 8 Euros for adults and 4 euro's for kids. Head down to Chamonix sports centre to get involved with the action.

Girls, don't miss out this weekend on free ski and board tuition and the opportunity to test out new equipment on the slopes. Free and discounted lift passes are available as part of the Talent's Aiguilles event and Salomon will have Test centres at Brevent, Le Tour, Grand Montets and Flegere on Saturday and Sunday.

Last night was the opening of the New Cavern at The Office in Argentiere. The downstairs has been newly renovated and will now play host to The Mode Saurians and their funky brand of Jazz.

Nights to check out this week:

Friday Night - It's well worth checking out Soul Food this weekend especially if you like your acid jazz and funky bites!? - Dj Feel Good is playing tonight.

Saturday Night - Juggernauts of Rock- La Terrasse

Sunday Night - Full Moon Party at Cantina – Mr Pop, Dj Skred and Uncle Joe.

For those of you that enjoyed New Years eve at The Podium there's plenty more where that came from! Giles Peterson will be the next to visit and there are more big names in the pipeline. Stay tuned to my reports to be the first to know what , where and who's next!
