Chamonix Apres Ski Report: 12nd December 2008

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Winter got off to a flying start this week in Chamonix with the highest recorded snow levels in 50 years! Chamonix's night life paid homage to its arrival offering up a host of opening parties and packed out nights across town.

Kicking off proceeding and showing just how these things are done The Clubhouse pulled out the stops and in the crowds at the weekend with the offer of free cocktails and good music. The drinks were flowing and by all accounts this was a party not to be missed!

La Terrasse opened its doors to the public on Saturday night drawing in a new bunch of fresh faces and the usual share of familiar ones, the majority of which had one thing on their mind, fresh tracks and powder!

Thursday night saw Cantina, never one to disappoint, packed to the rafters with hot and sweaty happy punters enjoying a mixture of break beats, Latino rhythms and drum and bass. This Friday Cantina is throwing a full moon party so if you need your Cantina fix there's no better time to get it.

Finally, think Jack Johnson, think beach tunes and bongos and you'll get a slight flavour of what Chamonix newest recruits Coco Penny are all about. Wednesday saw the grand opening of The Rhododendron Hotel in Le Praz and the boys were on hand to treat an eager audience to some acoustic talent. Coco Penny play again this Saturday at Monkey.
