Le Courant d'Air Restaurant, Les Houches

Rustic mountain hut, open for lunches & snacks

Sitting pretty next to the Mont Blanc Tram line, this restaurant has exceptional views across the valley and plenty of ye olde rural charm.

This charming old mountain shack serving traditional homemade cuisine. Family run with plenty of character, expect to be crammed into a warm and cosy, if slightly rickety dining room. Food is made from regional ingredients (cheese, cheese and more cheese), if you don't want a full meal then one of their homemade desserts with a coffee is a lovely afternoon treat.

Tables and chairs are laid out on the lawn on warmer winter days and throughout summer. The tram stops just outside, making it a good spot to grab a cuppa while you wait for your lift.

An interesting little sideline is the bars of scented soap make from donkey milk, each one attributed to a particular donkey from a local farm!

  • "Great little hut on the mountain, good local food and great atmosphere. Limited space but that makes it special." - Trip Advisor
  • "We fell into this little place lost in a complete white out- the food looked so good, we stayed to eat and booked for the next day. Superb food, excellent friendly service. Fantastic." - Trip Advisor
  • "It is very French. And as their idea of service is different to other countries, they can be a little sharp with customers, but generally quick. But the location is great and the little house is so cosy. The food is excellent value for money." - Trip Advisor
