Plan Joran Restaurant & Cafe, Grands Montets

Cafe & restaurant next to the Plan Joran chair lift at 1923m

Located on the Grands-Montets ski resort is this traditional looking savoyarde chalet-style restaurant with a large south-facing terrace.

Inside, the restaurant is decorated in a typically Savoyarde style, where chef Franco produces an a la carte menu and a seasonal menu including things like snail and reblochon cheese casserole, paella risotto, oxtail parmentier, and veal with mushrooms. They have been awarded the title 'Maitre Restaurateur', to recognize that the food is home made from fresh ingredients.

You can dine inside, or sit on the sunny south-facing terrace which has great views. Booking ahead for the restaurant is recommended.

If you've got less time on your hands, then the takeaway menu offers an antipasti buffet, pizzeria, tartiflette, dish of the day cooked in a giant pan, carvery, and a great dessert buffet.

There's enough seating for 330 on the terrace outside and almost the same inside (for self-service and takeaway), the restaurant seats 47 inside.

The restaurant is open at the weekends from 17th November according to the snow conditions and then everyday from 8th December to 1st May. In winter it is only accessible on a snowboard/skis, but in the summer pedestrians can get to it.

Visitor comments

  • "This is a 'mountain' restaurant and clearly catered by a chain but felt like a rustic mid mountain restaurant. As expected with any mountain restaurants, prices are higher then normal for restaurants at lower altitude, where food and staff doesn't have added travel. The food was good, variety of hot food on offer as well as salad bar etc. If you have a sunny day the terrace is the best option as it gives you an excellent view." - Trip Advisor
