Snow or no snow? The weather can’t seem to make up its mind if its the end of season yet or not….so most of the bars have been hesitating to reveal their closing parties dates.

A few details are beginning to trickle out now and there’s still plenty to do to in the meantime, regardless of the weather.

Normally the lifts stay open until early May with each area will having its own closing party. The main event will be the Chamonix Freeride Day at the Grand Montets. As usual there will be many braver than myself stripping down to their birthday suit for the ski -waterslide. There’s also slack-lines, speed-riding, and a wing suit display as well as a BBQ and beer to cure any hangovers. There will also be plenty of live music including a Brazilian Band- Plage Brésilienne Theme, DJs and a top Party with ‘Jimbo and Gav.’ There’s also an end of after-noon concert at Marmottons Argentière featuring Edgar and his dépanneuse.

Many of us will be broken hearted to hear that the last apres ski gig from No Limits at Chambre Neuf finishes on Friday 10th of April, but you can drown your sorrows at South Bar when DJ’s MisterPop and Bassmajesty return to spin out the best sounds UK Garage, Electro, Dubstep & drum'nbass

Another stalwart of end of seasons parties is the annual P party at The Pub, this year taking place on the 17th of April. For those who don’t know, you basically need to get dressed up as anything beginning with the letter P. Costumes have reached a whole new level over the last few years - from giant pokemons and Pokahontas - to Posh spice, pandas and Pebbles (from the Flintstones).

Le Vert Hotel is marking the end of the season on the 11th with a huge party and BBQ. Starting at 14:00 with myminidisco (a kids disco); there’s free face painting and a photo booth. From 16:00 there’s a BBQ with beats from DJ's Sugarleg, and a Silent Techno Disco in the courtyard with Corin & Joe. The Francessco Pui Trio play live from 19:00 in the marquee, then Chamonix's finest G Funk & IYE95 are playing big room funk, breaks and beats until the early hours. Tickets cost 10 euros in advance or 15 on the door.

And of course...it's time for the last big party of the season at the Bunker. For this last event they will welcome the godfather of UK hiphop, and also one of Cham's favorite DJs..the legendary Daddy Skitz! And as always, he's not coming on his own. This time he will be performing alongside London based MC,Profit, one of the new wave of UK vocalists bringing vibes, versatility and content. And to complete this sick line-up, you'll some of the best local talents including Dj Iye 95, MisterPop & Dj Kimba aka Katanas and the one and only SickNote. So come join them on the 17th of April from 12pm @ Bunker Club Chamonixfor a night of hiphop, reggae, Uk Garage, drum'n'bass & jungle.

But it’s not all about the parties….

Elsewhere from the 9-12th April the Les Piolets d'Or takes place in Chamonix (Majestic and Cinema Vox) and Courmayeur celebrating some of the finest ascents from mountains across the globe. The award is not necessary given to the hardest or most technical ascent, but the most innovative and inspirational expeditions. Events include movies, book signings, interviews, presentations, the opportunity to meet and listen to many renowned Alpinists and, ultimately, the awards ceremony itself - many of the events are free entry.

The Corsican festival arrives in Chamonix on the 17-19th of April. The 3 day celebration of all things Corsican from music, dancing, food, drink and entertainment. Chamonix centre will host a market selling typical Corsican produce and there will be free open air concerts and a number of bars and restaurants will be hosting special events and serving Corsican dishes. Look out for events at the Majestic, Hotel Heliopic, place de la poste and Cinema Vox.

Local ladies choir, the Chambelles perform classic rock and pop at the Aiglons Hotel on 7th May with tickets costing 10 euros in aid of Solidarite Kang Guru.

Then there’s the 3rd Bike Rally Velorution’Air- a family friendly rally to encourage cyclists and help the pollution problem. The group ‘Inspire’ are campaigning against the air pollution levels in the Chamonix Valley and this cycle protest will take place in Chedde & Passy on Saturday 2nd May starting at 10am.
