What's On this Easter Weekend in Chamonix?

Your Round-Up to all Easter Events Over the Next Few Days

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Alison Shayler, Chamonix Reporter Updated

It looks like the Easter Bunny might have come up trumps where Santa failed and brought us some fresh snow! Even if it's raining down in the valley, you can be sure that it's snowing up top and that makes us even (hmmm, almost perhaps) happier than chocolate. There's also loads going on this weekend for all ages and all tastes, so what does Chamonix have in store for us this Easter Weekend...?

Good Friday - 3rd April

Kick off the bank holiday weekend with a 3 day festival of mountains and music! The Jour Blanc invites a whole heap of DJs and electronic music acts to play for your partying pleasure. There will be live concerts up on the ski slopes and parties in loads of the bars in town, many are free entry and if you have a lift pass you can see all the mountain sessions free of charge. You can find more details on the event here:

If electronica isn’t your thing then pop over to Restaurant L’Impossible from 8pm for an evening of Swing, Valse and Tralala! If you have no idea what that is then it’s an acoustic trio playing jazz manouche gypsy-style tunes from yesteryear. L’Impossible is also an excellent place to enjoy a special dinner, so book in advance to be sure of a table, you can find their contact details here:

Saturday - 4th April

If you’re skiing in Les Houches on Saturday then make your last run of the day down to the Bellevue lift station and call into Kitsch Inn where you’ll find hearty food and fine tunes courtesy of Juggernaut James and Stephen aka Bod, playing live from 4:30pm. No need to book, just call in for a couple of beers or maybe a bite to eat!

Easter Sunday - 5th April

If your Easter Sunday isn’t complete without a home cooked dinner with all the trimmings then give Hotel Aiguille du Midi a try. They’re putting on a splendid four course meal for just 40€ per head - which happily includes full access to their legendary dessert buffet (which is probably worth the 40€ alone). They are renowned for using local seasonal ingredients, including veggies grown in the hotel garden, to create simple but delicious dishes. View the menu and book your table here:

Sunday sessions at Hotel Pointe Isabelle have turned into a bit of regular get together this winter and this weekend is your last chance to catch Erik & Mollie performing their last apres-ski set of the season from 4pm to 6pm. Chilled out vibes, comfy sofas and chilled prosecco with a few mates sounds like a great end to the afternoon.

Le Vert in Gaillands are also doing an Easter menu and you can choose from 1-5 courses. Kids are welcome especially for food before 6 pm where mini eggs and other Easter fun will be on offer.

Monday - 6th April

Little ones can join in the fun with an Easter Egg hunt organised by Petit VIP at the tennis courts. The fun will be on all day from 10am to 5pm with face painting, bouncy castle, cakes and games - egg hunts will be staggered throughout the day according to age and the Restaurant de Tennis will be putting on a special lunch menu. Please contact Heather at Petit VIP to register your child’s place.

Instead of gorging on chocolate all day (although there's never anything wrong with that) why not treat yourself to a gourmet Easter lunch at the michelin starred restaurant at the Hotel Albert Premier? For 100€ per head you can dine on a sumptuous six course gastronomic feast, see here for the full menu and reservation details or try the menu at their other restaurant the Maison Carrier where the Easter menu costs 50 euros per person.

Another “last one of the season” is Comedy Night at the Jekyll - they’ve had another fantastic winter of live stand-up comedy and this last one looks set to be another belter with some great acts on the line-up. Get there early and tuck into a delicious pie dinner awash with rich gravy and nestled amongst the finest spuds for just 25€, including seats for the comedy show, or it’s just 10€ for the show (standing room only).

Enjoy your weekend and don’t forget to keep an eye on our Chamonix Events Calendar for all upcoming shindigs in the valley!
