Panoramic Gondola - Aiguille du Midi, Chamonix

A gondola ride across the glaciers high above the Chamonix valley

featured in Lift pass offices & lift stations Updated

The Panoramic Mont Blanc gondola operates during the summer months, connecting the Aiguille du Midi with the Skyway Monte Bianco lift at Helbronner, on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.

This amazing 5km gondola journey passes over the Géant glacier, giving you spectacular views over ice falls, crevasses and the Mont Blanc massif.

A one-way trip takes 30 minutes in a four-person gondola. Its operation is very weather dependant – if the wind is too strong, or if there is poor visibility, the gondola will close.

Once at the far side you can connect on foot to the new Skyway Monte-Bianco (Helbronner) cable car.

More inspiration...

Lots of people head up the Aiguille du Midi and the Panoramic gondola purely for the views over the glaciers, although it is also a hugely popular start point for many mountaineering and skiing routes. Walking onto the glaciers from Helbronner is not advised unless you have the proper equipment and are preferably with a high-mountain guide.
