Dee O'Neill has been teaching skiing in Chamonix for several seasons and has developed a great love of the mountains, off piste skiing, touring and mountaineering.
Dee is qualified through the Irish Association of Snowsports Instructors (IASI) with full French Equivalence and is an IASI Alpine Trainer.
Dee heads up the seasonaire programme for BASS Chamonix running weekly seasonaire sessions throughout the season.
“I was introduced to skiing at a relatively early age and spent winters zipping around the slopes. I quickly became addicted to skiing and being from Ireland this did prove a slight problem – no snow! In order to ski regularly I joined the Ski Club of Ireland where I was able to ski on more regular basis. Getting involved at an early age introduced me to racing and this proved a useful stepping stone in training towards becoming a ski instructor. After receiving my first level qualification I realised that I wanted to develop more as a skier so I furthered my training which led me to gain my professional qualification and enable me to live in the Alps as a professional ski instructor.
I was also heavily involved for a number of years with the Irish Association of Snowsports Instructors as Chairperson which is the Irish body responsible for training and assessing ski instructors to international standards. With such a passion for skiing, cycling and running I couldn’t think of a better place to be than Chamonix!”
BASS Chamonix operates throughout the Chamonix Valley and Dee can be hired for private tuition.
