Who should go

If you have no specific routes of your own in mind, on the slopes and pinnacles surrounding the valley the AIGMB offers techinical progression courses to guide and teach all the neccessary skills you will need, safely. With an emphasis on keeping the teaching methods simple and clear, all course members finish the week with a greatly improved understanding of the mountaineering techniques one has to know to truely visit this environment. From mountaineering, rock climbing, snow and ice-climbing courses, through to multi-day glacier trekking, off-piste, heli-skiing, and ski touring you will be able to find your enjoyment being shared in the AIGMB. The ultimate challenge is perhaps an ascent of the Mont Blanc which is more than possible to arrange with these guys.

During the winter when in Chamonix you shouldn't leave without descending on the longest glacier on the Mont-Blanc range, for which you must go with a professional guide. At around 24 km, deep in the heart of high mountains, with blue crevasses, ice falls and dramatic scenery, a run down the Vallee Blanche is surely one of nature's finest gifts. Accommpanied by a member of the AIGMB team negociate the impressive breath-taking ridge from the Aiguille du Midi to where the skiing starts and then track all the way down with confidence. From the summit of the cable car (3842m) you have 2900 vertical metres down to Chamonix (if conditions permit).
