Chamonix Snow Report: 12th December 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

No good news unfortunately this week. There has been no snow fall recently and there is none expected to be forecast before the 20th. The lack of snowfall has meant a posponed opening of the resort's ski areas and lifts.

There is low pressure over the Mediterranean, and high over France and Eastern Europe meaning clear skies. The conditions generally in Savoie and Hautre Savoie are now getting pretty desperate with many of the slopes still brown and autumnal. Snow is only really visible above 2000m, and even then it can be patchy and not very deep.

Otherwise the resort is starting to re-awaken after the autumn break. As soon as we have more positive news we will let you know.

We will be keeping this Chamonix snow report updated often during the season, but if you want even more up-to-date news on the ski conditions, why not sign up for our Dump Alert? We'll email you each time it snows enough to significantly change the skiing conditions. It's great to know that the snow is falling in the run-up to your holiday, and it might even allow you to book a last-minute weekend when the snow is particularly good. The service is free, and you can unsubscribe whenever you like.
