Chamonix Snow Report: 13th March 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Today the light has been really flat so conditions have not been superb, although there is nothing wrong with the snow. We haven't actually been out in it, rather we have been working.

We are putting up a new weather station tomorrow. We did try one before back when we installed the webcam but it was only when we got back down to resort that we read the label - which said it was only effective to 1500m - 1000m to low!! It subsequently broke!!!!! This one is a more 'robust' model. Let's hope so....results in a couple of days.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is sunshine, maybe snow later on. The other good news is that temperartures are returning to their seasonal norm (unless it snows...).

It is no longer possible to ski back to the town (unless you want a rough ride) but nevermind. There are still 16km of 'crunchy' cross-country skiing open.

The PanoChamCam is now fully operational...we have some great images now available on the site webcams index. We have a few more on their way....

We'll keep you updated - sign up for the Dump Alert! We only let you know about significant falls and you can unsubscribe at any time.
