Chamonix Snow Report: 19th November 2003

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

There has been a fair amount of autumnal weather recently. Although most snow has come and gone lower down, the mountains are looking white(r).

According to the beardy locals (not a single scientist involved) this is supposedly shaping up to be a bumper snow year. The last time there was such a hot summer (1976) there was a huge amount of snowfall during the winter. Fingers crossed.

Most of the lifts are closed for repair and maintenance work so no skiing yet!

Meanwhile everyone continues to prepare for the winter, or is taking a well earned holiday. The town is reasonably quiet / shut / being repaired for the moment.
