Chamonix Snow Report: 19th October 2010

featured in Snow report Author Kieran Sharp, Updated

Chamonix has seen its first little taste of snow this week which can make the climbing a bit cooler but there are still plenty of activities and things to do in the valley year round, why wait till winter for a visit to this wonderful town.

Where possible a lot of the valley dwellers have been getting their legs fit anyway they can for the coming winter, with a bit of snow on the ground it's made a run, hike or climb a bit cold but all the more to motivate doing it a little quicker and getting back for a cup of tea!

Last week we had a little look at snowboard preparation for the winter season through early season training and Blue Mile Snowsports. Let's have a little look at what All Mountain Performance, a Chamonix based ski coaching organisation have to offer:

Teaching skiing is much more than just our profession. It is a passion that motivates and drives us. We aim to inspire and enlighten you. You will amaze yourself! We aim to provide the highest quality ski tuition in a safe, fun and friendly environment. Using the most up to date skiing techniques and innovative teaching methods. It's not rocket science... It's skiing... We keep it simple.

We never forget that you are on holiday and are here to enjoy the mountain experience. It is our aim to help maximize your enjoyment as well as your learning.

We know that to truly master skiing, one must master the whole mountain. To be able to ski any conditions and terrain with control, versatility and expression. All mountain performance courses and coaching encourage eventual mastery as we develop a complete variety of skiing skills in a full range of conditions and terrain maximizing your ability to ski the whole mountain.

Skiing is a sport that requires freedom to move so we can balance and adjust as we ski. This is because the nature of the mountain terrain and snow is always changing. We need to make adjustments to cope with these changes so we can control our speed and line effectively. We aim to expand your freedom of movement by encouraging your own natural style to develop.
We believe you will learn something much better if you understand why and how it works. This is why we also develop your knowledge of how your skis work against the snow. This will enhance your ability to effectively influence your skis.

People learn much better by their own experiences. We us a series of innovative tasks and exercises that are strategically designed to make you discover new and more positive skiing.

All skiers can improve. Even the best skiers in the world have coaching. We are continually striving to improve our own skiing and knowledge of the sport and mountain environment so that we stay at the forefront of modern ski teaching.

There are many organisations in the valley offering similar services and I would highly recommend wither you're a skier or snowboarder, coaching at any level will help you enjoy the most from your chosen winter sport.
