Chamonix Snow Report: 26th October 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

We have been fairly slack in the last week - no update to the Snow & Rock Report for a little while. Then again there has been hardly and snow or rock recently anyway!

The weather, bar last Sunday when we were sun-bathing in 27C has been 'autumny' to say the least. The rain has been fairly consistent and it did snow down to 1400m a couple weeks ago. Nonetheless warmer temperatures did dissipate this quite quickly - it was amazing how many people started dusting off their sliding gear somewhat prematurely!

The most fervant activity at the moment is checking out the latest winter stock in the shops. Selection of this year's esstential items ahead of the crowd is certainly a priority - you can't be wearing matching gear now surely!!

Last week also saw us return from the London Ski Show which went rather well. The best thing is that it turns out to be quite a social occassion (if you are not actually working on the stands).

Now we are back we are keeping an eye on the snow for you. Note that the Grands Montets opens weekends from the 11th November onwards until the main season starts.....(cheeky weekend skiing anyone?)...

We'll keep you updated - sign up for the Dump Alert! We only let you know about significant falls and you can unsubscribe at any time.
