Chamonix Snow Report: 28th November 2003

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Well here it is the first proper dump of the season and there is more than a patch of snow on the ground.

20cm have fallen in town and it is really fine powder snow. The weather forecast is set to improve over the weekend so it is unlikely more will fall in this bout but hopefully we'll get some more soon....

According to the beardy locals (not a single scientist involved) this is supposedly shaping up to be a bumper snow year. The last time there was such a hot summer (1976) there was a huge amount of snowfall during the winter. Fingers crossed.

Most of the lifts are closed for repair and maintenance work so no skiing yet!

Meanwhile everyone continues to prepare for the winter, or is taking a well earned holiday. The town is reasonably quiet / shut / being repaired for the moment.
