Chamonix Snow Report: 2nd February 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Another fantastic sunny and warm day was upon us today. The warm temperatures are making being on the hill a pleasure following having to put up with severe cold or snow!

However, warmth brings deteriorating quality of snow conditions, mainly at the lower levels. This shouldn't start causing problems in Cham for a while then. The avalanche risk has been stable and low recently, however with the melt slumps are becoming more common. The chances of setting off windslabs is low and the powder is settling/melting in.

The PanoChamCam is now fully operational...we have some great images now available on the site: webcams index. We have a few more on their way....
