Chamonix Snow Report: 5th March 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Apologies for the poor reporting this week - we haven't actually been out since Monday. Conditions remained constant (cold and hard-ish) until yesterday (Thurs.) when a high level blanket of cloud cover the valley for the day. The light was very flat and you could tell snow was on the way.

Today snow has been falling with a few centimetres landing on the town - so potentially good news for up top. The forecast is for this to continue until Sunday. This blanket will hopefully rejuvenate the current top surface.

All the main ski areas are in good shape, with good coverage. Le Tour is getting a little thin towards the bottoms of the main area.

It is no longer possible to ski back to the town (unless you want rough ride) but nevermind. There are still 16km of 'crunchy' cross-country skiing open.

The PanoChamCam is now fully operational...we have some great images now available on the site webcams index. We have a few more on their way....

We'll keep you updated - sign up for the Dump Alert! We only let you know about significant falls and you can unsubscribe at any time.
