Chamonix Snow Report: 9th March 2004

featured in Snow report Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Conditions today have been stunning, with the cloud level down in the valley and sunshine on fresh snow up top (jealous anyone...?). The snow which fell over the weekend is still light and being preserved by the cold conditions. With it being lower season the lift queues have greatly reduced - to almost nothing.

It is difficult to bring any particular area to your attention as being good as everywhere is! Snow on the Grand Montet is deep enough to have covered the previous base.

It is no longer possible to ski back to the town (unless you want a rough ride) but nevermind. There are still 16km of 'crunchy' cross-country skiing open.

The PanoChamCam is now fully operational...we have some great images now available on the site webcams index. We have a few more on their way....

We'll keep you updated - sign up for the Dump Alert! We only let you know about significant falls and you can unsubscribe at any time.
