Chalky snow at Grands Montets
Cold, soft snow on and off-piste
After some morning cloud lifted, the sun came out but temperatures stayed low. The snow lower down had transformed and was refrozen slush which made for awkward skiing. Higher up, it was cold and soft.
It's still quite crowded up on the slopes but, choose the right time and place and there's great skiing out there. Off-piste is tracked out but in the right places it's soft and chopped up. Avalanche risk is at 3/5.
It's due to be mixed weather over the next few days, which some snow likely over the weekend. Best of all it will stay nice and cold, especially from Monday onwards, when a mass of cold air from Siberia will hit the alps.
