Mixed conditions at Grand Montets
Almost a great April powder day in Chamonix
Rain in the valley yesterday raised hopes that we'd get some good skiing this morning at Grand Montets. It snowed 5-10cm at the mid-station and more higher up.
Nice turns on the upper slopes quickly gave way to 'dust-on-crust' conditions, making for very mixed skiing. With clouds rolling in, likely preventing the icy pistes from softening, we called it early. The weather for the next few days looks to be quite similar, with flurries of snow and patches of sunlight, but no sign of stable weather which will allow spring ski touring season to start in earnest.
