New this season 2019/2020, Dinners Delivered by TCS is a super cost-effective way to cater for your holiday. Tempted by their delicious-sounding menu and their promised hassle-free process, we decided to order ourselves a feast.

Dinners Delivered by TCS is a branch of the Total Chalet Services chalet management company. Based in Morzine, after trying their food delivery service over there, they decided to extend it to the neighbouring Chamonix Valley and, so far, it's been a huge success!

They offer ready-made, home-cooked meals that can be reheated in the oven or microwave, as well as recipe bags with everything you need to cook a tasty dinner in no time. These are delivered to your home within the Morzine and Chamonix valleys. They have a range of menu choices available to order, from authentic Indian food to flavourful Asian dishes, Mexican and Italian delicacies, delicious sides and finger-licking desserts, including lots of options for vegans and vegetarians – perfect for a simple evening takeaway or to cater for your ski holiday.

One wintery night, we decided to order form Dinners Delivered by TCS as we had invited a couple of friends over the following evening and didn't want to spend too much time in the kitchen. You can choose between their recipe bags or their ready-made meals. Ordering the former is really easy as it can be made by phone and email, or filling in an online form. These recipe bags are delivered daily in the Morzine Valley and on Fridays and Tuesdays in the Chamonix Valley so that you'll have them ready and waiting for you on your Saturday arrival and then reorder mid-week. Delivery is completely free of charge.

You can choose from a range of mains and sides, all of which sound mouth-watering! Their recipe bag menu includes international favourites like Cajun Salmon, Vegan Tofu Spicy Udon, Beef Burrito, Meatballs or Pasta Verde with Crispy Bacon and Boccacini, as well as side dishes like Refried Beans, Balsamic Honey Potatoes or Greek Salad. They come with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions and inside recyclable bags.

Also on offer every Friday are fully cooked, authentic Indian feasts – Chilli Nights by TCS – which, as well as by phone and email, can be ordered through their Facebook page. These need to be booked before noon to ensure the food arrives in time for delivery if you're in Chamonix, with the rotating menu being advertised on their Facebook page every week. We decided on a Chicken Korma curry and a Veg Makhanwala curry which we ordered as a Meal Deal, so it arrived with rice and naan bread. We phoned Phyllis and her team to book our delivery slot and they were really helpful, taking our order in no time.

The day after we placed the order, in the afternoon, a friendly delivery man brought our food at the door of our apartment in the centre of Chamonix. It arrived with plenty of time before our friends got here for dinner, packed in a bio-friendly bag – such a nice touch but not surprising as many local businesses in the mountains are striving to be environmentally friendly. The meals are served in heat-proof foil containers ready for the oven and they come with reheating instructions which, as we found out, included the perfect timings to take them up to the right temperature. Alternatively, these containers can be stored in the fridge.

As the delicious, spicy aromas wafted out of the oven, we couldn't wait to try them! First off, we tucked into the Chicken Korma, a tasty coconut-based curry bouncing with rich flavours and a touch of tangy coriander as a contrast. The Makhanwala Curry was filling and delicious, complete with barley, green beans and potatoes while the coriander and tomato salsa provided with it gave it just the right kick. The rice was steamed to perfection and the freshly baked naan bread was fluffy and flavoursome. All in all, we enjoyed a scrumptious, authentic Indian feast deep in the Alps.
