With temperatures soaring over the weekend to a summery 22 degrees, although it felt more like 25 or 26 degrees! We could have been fooled into thinking that summer would last forever.

These temperatures are 8 to 10 degrees above the normal season averages but are not necessarily unusual, with an 'Indian Summer' quite often being experienced in the valley during the month of October.

However, temperatures are set to drop dramatically in the Chamonix Valley this week. The arrival of a new 'more active' front will see plummeting temperatures from Wednesday, with almost 15 degrees being lost in just two days.

And the cause for this sudden change? Meteorologists say that, "We will move from a southerly flow to a northerly flow. Snow flakes could even fall to 1000 or 1200 meters."

Predictions are however, that this cold snap will not last. Friday's temperatures will rise to 15 or 16 degrees, then 18 or 19 degrees over the next weekend. According to meteorologists though, November could be "colder than normal". And with the clocks changing this weekend to their winter hours, you might want to start thinking about bringing out the winter wardrobe and turning on the heating...
