Summer Season at VerticAlp Emosson
Chatelard Funiculars & Train (VerticAlp)
At the very edge of the Chamonix Valley (and technically on the Swiss side of the border) is a two stage funicular and scenic train that takes you up to the Emosson Dam, known as the Vertic'Alp.
The first part of the journey leads up the mountain on the steepest funicular ride you'll ever take. At 87 degrees incline you'll be wondering how they even built it. At the top you join a small train that winds its way around the mountain side and then you hop onto another small funicular to the top of the Emosson dam.
The attraction is open every day (weather permitting) from 21st May 2016 to 23rd October 2016 from 09:00 to 17:00.
CosmoJazz will be back again this summer (dates and details TBC), but the big event of the summer is the arrival of stage 17 the Tour de France 2016 which takes place on the 20th July.
