14 Additional Avalanche Firing Points at Montenvers
An extension to the pre-existing avalanche prevention programme is put in place
Compagnie du Mont Blanc have tonight announced that as part of the feasability studies made for repositioning the gondola down to the Mer de Glace, they will be adding 14 new firing points to help prevent avalanches in the Montenvers area.
The images above show the exact location of the new points - between l’éperon des Echelets (up from the ladders) and up from the Panoramique area, which will be using during winter in times of heavy snow.
Given that they have an impact on routes back from the Vallee Blanche, and numerous other climbing, winter walking and mountaineering routes, signs will be made available at the nearest ticket office / lift station. On top of that Compagnie du Mont Blanc are asking that you share this information far and wide!
