The PGHM are usually very busy during the summer months, attending high mountain call outs on a regular basis. Tuesday was yet another busy day for them with two rescues before midday.

At 8:40am on Tuesday, August 25th, the PGHM received a call from a German tourist alerting them to two climbers who had been swept away by an avalanche in the Grand Couloir, on the Gouter route of Mont Blanc. The PGHM quickly arrived and found the two climbers, shocked but free from serious injury, they were then brought back to the Heli-pad in Les Bois.

Within a couple of hours they were then heading to Mont Tondu on the South west edge of the Massif. They had been alerted to a party of six that had run into difficulty and sustained injuries. One climber suffered a broken femur and was taken to Sallanches hospital, whilst another was less severely injured and taken to Chamonix hospital.

We wish them all a speedy recovery!
