The Freeride World Tour kicked off last Saturday January 23rd at Vallnord-Arcalís in Andorra, with an amazing start of the season for Chamonix athletes.

The best result was reached by Sascha Hamm who took the top spot in men's snowboard with a very smooth and powerful line that included some big airs. The 39 year old legend came out of retirement in 2014 to participate in that year's edition of the Freeride World Tour, and the move has definitely paid off.

Local newbie Camille Armand also stood up on the snowboard podium in third place. His impressive backflip won him the favour of the judges. Chamonix skiers were well represented by Léo Slemett who got fifth place in Andorra, while the top spot for women snowboarders was achieved by Estelle Balet, a young Swiss rider from the Valais region just across the border.

If you missed their runs, you can check the videos to see how Sacha Hamm, Camille Armand, Léo Slemett and Estelle Balet tackled the nearly 400m run with 40 degrees from the 2680m Coste Negre face in Vallnord-Arcalís.

61 athletes took place in this first stage of the Freeride World Tour. The next stop will take them to Chamonix on February 6th.
