Every year Ski Independence assists the MS Trust in putting on this fantastic challenge so that people can raise funds for this worthy cause.

Last year the group of 15 skiers raised more than £22,800 to help fund the work of the MS Trust. Since the first event in 2008, 79 people have taken part in Monster Ski, raising over £407,000 to support the work of the charity.

This year friends Phil & Ben decided to take on the challenge that brought them right here to Chamonix in the beautiful French Alps. They set themselves the challenge of the Monster Ski with the aim of raising a substantial amount of money for The Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

"The MS Trust is a charity close to our hearts due to Phils unexpected diagnosis of the condition. It has made us realise that life's a game to be played, Life's a challenge to be Met and Life is an opportunity to be captured.

Now let's get one thing clear, This will not be a jolly up in the French Alps at your expense it's called a challenge for a reason. We will cover 90,000 vertical feet over three days, this would be the equivalent of three times the height of MT Everest. To make this even more challenging we will accomplish this on snowboards."

Photographer Tom Humpage was out on the hill with them on day one as they set an astonishing pace first thing as they lapped the Prarion bubble in Les Houches and conquered their first 30,000 vertical feet. The participants completed their challenge yesterday (Monday) and happily not only survived the challenge in high spirits but actually completed all 90,000 vertical feet. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the challenge!

So far the team have raised a fantastic £13,000 for the MS Trust and they still have some time to get more sponsorship in. This amount can fund the publications the MS Trust send out to people with MS for 6 months.
