Chamonix Apres Ski Report: 15th January 2009

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Sunday night got off to a flying start with an invitation to an evening of Mexican food and fun at friends. After a few too many fajitas we headed out to wash it all down with the upbeat sounds of Hors Piste at The Terrace. One thing led to another and before we knew it we were welcoming in Monday on Cantinas legendary dance floor. The music was a crowd pleasing mix of drum and bass. If this sounds like your kind of thing then here are a few nights at Cantina you might want to check out over the coming week:

Friday 16th-DJ Nexus-Hip Hop and Ragga Dancehall
Saturday 17th-DJ KES-Funky Breakbeat
Sunday 18th-DJ RICHIE DELF –Hip funky hop

It really is a hard life for a girl in this town! The things we have to put up with. If it's not the massive ratio of boys to girls or free ski tuition then its free champagne !To round off a girl-tastic weekend up the mountain ( Talents Aiguilles) we headed to Monkey in Cham Sud where Monday night is ladies night which means all the Champagne you can drink for €5.If you can't make Mondays then don't despair Elevation also do a similar deal for girls on Wednesday nights.

In another part of town POC were celebrating their official opening and a great start to the season with the help of their sponsor's Absolute Vodka who had provided a ridiculous amount of vodka for the occasion. We arrived just in time to be greeted by canapés, vodka shots and live music. Fortunately my plans for an early morning up the mountain prevented me from experiencing a potentially lethal mix of champagne and vodka and I left the copious stocks intact for a jam packed room of POC converts who later migrated onto Soul Food for the after party and for more vodka and good music !
