How to buy ski passes
You can buy your pass online but before you buy anything we recommend you check the weather forecasts on arrival and/or speak to your accommodation provider, who should be able to advise you of the best options. That way you avoid spending money if the weather will be inclement or on the wrong kind of pass for your needs.

Also see our Ski Pass Options article for full details on the most suitable passes to buy, or read on for all ski-pass prices comparisons. We have a separate page for Summer Lift Pass Prices.

Beginners ski-passes

Although you can learn on the upper slopes in Chamonix, with one of the main passes, when conditions permit there are a number of lower lying beginner ski areas where you can try your hand, or get the kids going.

All tickets can be bought on site at the ticket offices. In some places there are special rates for students and seniors - ask at the ticket desk for details. Beginner ski areas are at low altitude and can be closed earlier than other, higher parts of the main ski area.

Booking Cable-car Time-slots
At certain times of the year it is necessary to book your time slot on certain lifts, ahead of time. This includes the Aiguille du Midi (in peak holiday seasons) the Tramway du Mont Blanc in summer and the Grands Montets Top cable-car (in winter). When the online booking isn't available for either of these, you can still book in advance at one of the lift pass offices in resort.

Ski insurance

Prices shown above are without insurance, which you can add on when buying on line or at the Ski Pass Offices in the valley. E-gloo ski insurance covers you for rescue and evacuation (search and rescue costs), ski pass reimbursement (and ski lessons if unused) & offers additional benefits. It costs 3 euros per day for 1-5 days duration, or 18 euros total for 6-21 days duration.
