Unlike modern resorts, Chamonix existed well before skiing, let alone snowboarding, were ever dreamt about. So there is a huge wealth of cultural and other sporting activities.
During the winter months you can also discover the mountains from another perspective, on snow shoes, cross-country or touring skis or by paragliding. You can even ice-climb a frozen waterfall or mountain bike along the valley floor in spring. Once summer arrives there is plenty of hiking, climing and cycling to be done.
If you prefer, you can just relax and get pampered. There are plenty of Spas in the town or you could have a massage in your own chalet, or a relaxing swim in the aquatic centre.
