The Mont Blanc Ski Challenge is the first race of the winter and signifies the start of the ski mountaineering, or ski alpinism, season.
The event takes place at Le Tour ski area and involves skinning up the pistes and then skiing back down again. The main race is a large loop that includes two heart-pumping ascents, three fast descents and a short skating section.
There are three races to choose from, all circuits starting from the bottom of Le Tour:
- Mont Blanc Ski Challenge - 1650m altitude gain
- La Petite Challenge - 900m altitude gain
- The Randathlon - 400m circuit for a family team of two (adult/junior 12-15yrs) including rifle shooting
There will also be an opportunity for participants and spectators to check out all the new kit and try it out for themselves.
