Cross-country skiing well underway in the valley

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Chamonix Editor Updated

Since the Christmas snowfalls the valley's cross-counrtry pistes have been able to open up to allow the nordic skiers to enjoy the tranquility of the forest trails, or take on a seriously strenuous workout. From Les Houches to Vallorcine the circuits are used by skiers of all ages.

For maximum enjoyment the valley invests in the daily maintainance of the runs, which also have pedestrian walks alongside the pistes. Both tradional (skis side by side) and the more energetic skating styles are accommodated and the pistes are in great condition.

If you want to take part you need to hire the right equipment and buy a 'ski-pass' from the starting points of the circuits (which are patrolled by pisteurs). Chamonix cross-country skiing info
